Hire a bike and take a water taxi to Te Mahia Bay. Ride the Kenepuru Road back to Portage (about 1.5 hours), or take the Queen Charlotte Trak for a more challenging option (about 2.5 hours). Be warned, if you take the track option, bike pushing will be a required for some of the trip, but views will be worth it as you reach the highest point on the Queen Charlotte Track on your way back to Portage.

Boat departs Portage 10.15am, or bike to Te Mahia and water taxi back to Portage at 2pm (other times available). Pre-booking is required to confirm boat times.
